Emerging Technology Trends 2020

Technology quickly became a part of the COVID19 containment strategy, particularly for contact tracing, soon after the Corona pandemic hit all of us.  Since, novel coronavirus is not an airborne disease but transmitted through directly coming in contact, tracing all those contacts to stop the spread became the essential first step. In countries like India, where the population is high, it is impossible to trace the contacts but, the emerging technology trends made it possible. Arogya Sethu App not only helped to contact tracing but also made it easy for checking the symptoms. Similar apps are being used in most other countries to tackle the spread of the virus.

The technology-enabled solutions to a global pandemic like Coronavirus, brought back the focus to the technology, particularly to emerging technology trends that are likely to change the businesses and people in the next 5 to 10 years. We discuss three such most promising technologies for the future here.

1. Algorithmic Technologies

With a variety of public data easily available for commercial and elections purpose and misinformation through the fake news, videos by the agencies and authorities to push their interests further made the businesses to trust algorithms more the governments and agencies. Algorithmic trust models ensure data security privacy and identities better.

Information tracking techniques like blockchain are used to authenticate goods. Often, there is a need to track from the source to be sure that it is not counterfeit. If a fake or counterfeit item is added as genuine, it can be identified based on the input code. Blockchain, with its immutable ledger, cannot be tampered.

In the near future, technologies in algorithmic technologies like blockchain and explainable AI will have strong resonance.

2. Composite Architecture Technologies

With increased connectivity and easy collaborations, the central command of the organization has substantially decentralized. Businesses need to create responsive architecture in tune with the decentralized model. According to Gartner, composite architecture is made up of packaged business capabilities built-in flexible data fabric. It successfully turns the organization into an agile force to deal with the rapid changes taking place around.

Composite architect provides for an easy recompose in emergencies like the pandemics. Composable enterprise principals are used but individually. When used together many businesses processes can be easily managed with innovation and better partnerships.

The technologies that come under it include data fabric, embedded AI alongside packaged business capabilities.

3. Digital Technologies

Over the last couple of decades, digital technologies have emerged so much so that now we can create a digital version of ourselves. It is not limited to virtual world alone but extended into the real world as well. In personal space, the brain-altering wearable to stimulate the mental state is being actively considered.

In the business, digital technologies likely to grow further by offering innovative solutions across authentication, access, and payments, etc. There are some game-changing applications to trigger alerts to boost a fatigued employee or mood-changing stimulations for teachers and instructors. These likely come under strain for ethical reasons, but the emergence of digital technologies will continue.
